Episode #238 - Horse Trade Preview
In this Indie Theater Now! episode opening the ‘08 Fall Season, nytheatrecast previews the upcoming shows of several resident companies of the Horse Trade Theater Group. First up are quick introductions by each of the three companies — who they are and a quick intro to their fall productions. Dysfunctional Theatre Company’s Amy Overman and Justin Plowman give a quick run through of their Halloween show, Brew of the Dead (a la every Zombie movie made). This is a show of pure entertainment according to Amy and Justin.
Next up is The Management represented by Jennifer Harder and Joshua Conkel. This new company has two show coming this fall — The Chalk Boy opens first and is written by Joshua and near the end of the year, they will produce a solo show with Amy Patrice Golden of their company.
A quick intro by Counting Squares’ trio of co-artistic directors ( Joshua Gold, Ryan Nicholoff, and Dena Kology) tells about their company of one year with four productions under their belt and their latest endeavor, Woyzeck, an adaptation by Joshua combining parts of the original story set in modern times concerning returning veterans, set to the musical styles of the Andrew Sisters.
Martin Denton then moderates a lively, relaxed roundtable about their experiences with the Horse Trade Group, their choice of shows and why, and a quick audience intro to each production.
