Martin Denton speaks with playwright Stan Richardson and director Ryan Davis about two upcoming chances to see Veritas. On May 25th there will be a performance to benefit Lambda Legal. Then at FringeNYC in August, there will be a full production.
Stan and Ryan tell us about the background for this play, which is based on a true event that occurred in 1920 at Harvard. These events are not known by many and it is fascinating to listen to the recounting of this so-called "Secret Court." Just as fascinating is Stan’s take on the play and how he came to focus on the story he tells.
The play explores a hidden piece of gay history, and Ryan and Stan put it into contemporary perspective in this intriguing conversation.
