Episode # 324 - Women's Project Lab

Wendy McClellan, Amanda Feldman, Carla Ching, Crystal Skillman
Crystal Skillman, playwright and contributor to nytheatre.com, brings to the nytheatrecast a talk about and with members of the Women's Project Lab. This is a "free two-year Lab for early to mid-career playwrights, directors, and producers. It is a vibrant community providing opportunities to network, brainstorm, test ideas, make new connections, and envision bold new work for the stage." With Crystal leading the discussion we hear from producer Amanda Feldman, playwright Carla Ching, and director Wendy McClellan. The talk begins with introductions but quickly segues to their individual backgrounds, thoughts on the Lab, and future plans.
Crystal is well versed on each of her guests and knows just what to talk about. She has worked with Amanda as a producer and zeroes in on what makes Amanda's outlook unique. Similarly, as a playwright she has much to discuss with Carla about two of her upcoming plays. Crystal shares several ideas with Wendy who most recently directed Or, by Liz Duffy Adams at the Julia Miles Theater.
A most enlightening podcast as we get to listen to participants talk about their experiences with the Lab. Thanks to Crystal for putting together so interesting a group giving us a chance to learn a bit more about a project many of us possibly knew little about before listening.
