Episode # 314 - Stolen Chair's Community Supported Theatre

Aviva Meyer, Jennifer Wright Cook, and Jon Stancato
Under the auspices of The Field, an arts service organization, grants have recently been awarded to four local nonprofits as part of an initiative known as Economic Revitalization for Performing Artists (ERPA). One of the recipients is Jon Stancato and his company, Stolen Chair. Martin Denton speaks with Jon and Aviva Meyer of the company and Jennifer Wright Cook, executive director of The Field, about this exciting new opportunity for sustainability.
Jon begins by talking about the model for this initiative which is Community Supported Agriculture and how he transferred this to a theatrical setting. He and Aviva give details about how they expect this to work and their plans for making it an exciting new venture for the company and those who will join their Community Supported Theatre.
Jennifer supplies some background about The Field and about this grantee program. She speaks at length about the hope that the grantees will be successful with their projects. Additionally, she explains that these projects should inspire other nonprofits to replicate, partially use, or begin their own unique sustainability projects by learning and watching the work of the grantees.
