Episode # 298 - United Stages Make Programs for NY Theatre

Ian Marshall and Jonathan Reuning

Ian Marshall and Jonathan Reuning

In a slight departure this episode is not concerned with a specific show or artist or theatrical genre but rather with a company that works behind the scenes to market many of the indie theater productions in the city. Martin Denton is joined by Ian Marshall and Jonathan Reuning, founders and owners of United Stages, the company that produces the programs handed out to audiences at many venues around the city.

Ian and Jonathan begin by introducing themselves and talking a bit about how they got together (blame their mothers who were acquaintances up in Massachusetts). They take turns talking about what they believe is the ultimate mission of United Stages and how it all began five years ago. In response to Martin's question they describe how a theatre company would go about getting programs for their show, a very simple process.

Ian and Jonathan both have careers in theatre outside of United Stages and they spend some time talking about this too.
