Martin Denton talks with director Jos' Zayas and playwright Caridad Svich about the premiere adaptation of Isabel Allende's novel, The House of the Spirits (La casa de los esp'ritus). This production will begin in February at Repertorio Espa'ol and will continue as part of their Repertory season for at least six months.
Caridad, who usually writes in English, explains the pitfalls, problems, excitement, and ease in writing this piece in Spanish. It is fascinating to listen to her speak about the process of this project and she is joined by Jos' to add his thoughts on their collaboration as writer and director.
Both Caridad and Jos' have full and interesting backgrounds and Martin draws them both out about this. Jos', also, talks a bit about Repertorio Espa'ol, a company which has been around for 40 years and is looking forward to the future.
